2016 Porsche Cayman GT4

porche auto repairThis 2016 Porsche Cayman GT4 is in today for a pre-track inspection, oil service, and brake fluid flush. Our customer just picked up this GT4, having traded in his previous track car, the very capable Porsche Cayman S. Seeing as how the first time he took the S out to the track, he boiled his brake fluid, and due to the fact that this GT4 is substantially more adept for track days, he’s wisely being super attentive to that brake fluid and staying on a less than 2 year regimen of changes.

Keeping your brake fluid and braking system in top shape is good practice on all vehicles, but it is crucial on track-bound cars. We look forward to seeing this pocket rocket in our bays for many years to come!

NOTICE TO VOLKSWAGEN TDI OWNERS

Midwest Performance Cars has been contacted by Volkswagen with details on the proposed settlements regarding emission systems of vehicles equipped with the 2.0-liter TDI engine. Owners of eligible 2.0-liter TDI vehicles are entitled to a significant cash payments under the settlements. In addition to that cash payment, owners may also choose between an emissions modification and a buyback:

Emissions Modification – Volkswagen is working to develop a modification of the emissions system of each type of 2.0-liter TDI, and, if that modification is approved by the EPA and CARB. A Volkwagen dealer of your choice will perform the modification on your vehicle free of charge.

Buyback – Volkswagen will buy back your 2.0-liter TDI vehicle for an amount based in part on the NADA Clean Trade value as of September 2015, before the emissions issue became public.

You can find further details of this settlement at https://www.vwcourtsettlement.com/en/

And as a reminder, Midwest Performance Cars can take care of ALL of your maintenance and repair needs on your Volkswagen vehicle even while your warranty coverage is still in effect. Servicing your vehicle at an independent repair and maintenance facility WILL NOT affect your vehicle’s warranty coverage, and we will save you money over what the dealership will charge. In fact, we guarantee that we will beat dealer pricing by at least 20% on regular retail-priced maintenance and repair.

MPC Helps Out a Veteran on His Cross Country Trip

MPC Helps out Andy on his cross-country trip
MPC Helps out Andy on his cross-country trip

MPC is thrilled to have been able to help out Andy on his cross-country trip from New York to Oregon. Andy is a veteran of the Marine Corps and served in Desert Storm. He has led a fascinating life and is full of amazing stories. Andy worked as a military contractor after his service and later went on to be a test-rider for Ducati motorcycles.

A first-time Porsche buyer, Andy flew to New York and purchased his first Porsche, a 1983 911SC Coupe – a great Porsche, whether your first or last. He then proceeded to drive his newly acquired 32 year old baby across the country home to Oregon. This is the kind of wonderful, gutsy car adventure that was common years ago, but most people just do not try any longer. However, with Andy’s background it is easy to see why he was up for the challenge.

Andy posted updates of his journey on a Pelican Parts blog and thus picked up a lot of support from fellow Porschephiles across the country. In NW Indiana his 911 suddenly died at speed and would not re-start. He posted a request for a recommendation to a Porsche shop in Chicago and we are thrilled that someone suggested Midwest Performance Cars. Andy had the car flatbedded here and we were able to quickly and affordably remedy his issue and get him back on the road.

While he was here, we got to know Andy and hear some of his great stories. We were also struck by how calm and relaxed he was despite the major hiccup in his plans – he was having fun the whole time!

Andy – thank you for your service and please come visit your friends at Midwest Performance Cars the next time you are in Chicago!

Cost Comparison: Should I keep my existing BMW or should I buy new?

We have more than the occasional customer who, when faced with a significant repair bill, will ask us if they should keep their current, paid-off car or just trade in and go with a new vehicle – and all of the car payments that come with it. This question comes up so often, in fact, that we decided to run the numbers ourselves and produce a fact-based comparison so that people could make a rational decision rather than an emotional one.

We perform vehicle repairs and maintenance every day, and the results are still surprising. Going the new-car-route in pursuit of that factory warranty coverage is much more expensive than you might think. Take a look at the following video and see for yourself, and please feel free to contact us with any questions or to set up an appointment for your vehicle.
